Alain Weiller

Alain A. Weiller is an epicurean when it comes to music, as the diversity of his compositions attests.
He is one of the rare composers of his generation to have been active in such varied fields as song,
film music, circus music, advertising, jazz and classical music.

His artistic training reveals his pugnacity in bringing to a successful conclusion the projects for
which he is responsible, so that the disciplines he has studied never suffer from approximation.
Indeed, he began his artistic education at the age of 9 when he entered the Annie Fratellini circus
school, where he learned juggling, walking on a tightrope and acrobatics. Annie was the first to
advise Alain to learn the trumpet (which came full circle when, in 2011, he composed the new
music for PINDER, the legendary circus from ‘La piste aux Etoiles’).

At the age of 16, he was awarded a Conservatoire Prize, followed by a 1st Prize for Excellence in
Musical Training at 17. He took lessons in harmony and composition while discovering computer
music, which was still in its infancy. He then taught himself piano, keyboards and singing.
For 15 years, he performed in France and all over the world.

On his return to France, he was signed by Universal Publishing and set up his own recording
studios in Boulogne Billancourt and London. He went on to write and collaborate with artists as
diverse as Johnny Hallyday, Michel Portal, Daniel Vigne, Smain, Liane Foly, Claudia Cardinal, Guy
Lecluyse, Pierre Richard, Bruno Salomone, Virginie Hocq, Charlotte de Turkheim, Barbara Cabrita,
Michel Legrand, Michel Leeb, Olivier Megaton, François Morel, Nadia Farès, Eric Aubier, Fanny
Ardant, Monica Bellucci, Camille Cottin and many more. . for advertising, television, cinema,
theatre, songs and arrangements.

During his career, which he wanted to remain discreet from the general public, Alain composed
songs for Johnny Hallyday for his last album for Universal.

He orchestrated 12 original songs composed by Michel Legrand for Big Band et Orchestre shortly
before his death.

He composed classical pieces for Eric Aubier, an international concert trumpeter, which were
performed and recorded in Seoul with Beautiful Day.

He wrote a book entitled ‘A quelques notes près’ in tribute to his trumpet teacher, Lucien, who helped him turn his sensitivity into an artistic asset.

In love with the sound of the flugelhorn, he composed and performed ‘Velvet Syncretism’, an album
of diverse musical influences, mixing wide-ranging melodies inspired by classical, jazz, film, ethnic
and synth-pop, but always with meticulous arrangements.
